So I tweaked my back on Day 7. Lifting. See why I hate lifting? I have zero strength, so I try to use my back and then the sciatica comes back. Gah.
Today was stretching for 20 minutes. All back and PT stretches.

Juneathon Day 7
Lifted at the gym. It kinda blew - not a fan of lifting. But I really need to get some upper body and core strength going.
This is possibly the most boring post ever.

Juneathon Day 6
Didn't plan on running today, only planned on an easy walk. But I had a craptastic start to the morning and as the day wore on, it got more craptastic. So I ran home at lunch and grabbed my running stuff. I wasn't 100% on board with it, but my running buddy, Bitter Bob, texted me and pretty much told me to suck it up, buttercup. I finished the afternoon at work and by the time I was done, I was working on being a wreck. I figured that I could go home and freak out, or go for a run and most likely feel a ton better. So I ran.
I went to the track. The weather was perfect - upper 70s, breezy and best of all, the sprinklers were on at the track. So with no plan whatsoever, I started out. I walked about 200m, then broke into a run. That first 200m run was tough. My shins were hurting, my form was bad, I wanted to give up. As a made my way around the curve, i decided to run up the bleachers on my way around. That kinda sucked, too. As I made my way back down the bleachers, I was totally sucking wind. But I figured it was good for me - gotta get that chatter out of my head and the easiest, fastest way to do it is to just push. So I did. I did a (4) 200m, with a trip up the bleachers at the end of each one, and followed by a 200m walk. Then I reverse directions and did 2 more 200m runs, before I walked the last two laps around the track. By the time I was done, I felt lots better and was really glad I decided to head out.
I'm not sure if Garmie was on target tonight - I had some crazy times (as low as 8:44/mi) and as slow as 22:05/mi. It didn't feel like I was running at either one of those speeds, so I may take Boo's garmin out for a spin sometime. I wonder if you can wear two garmins at the same time. hehe
All in all, I got in 2.25 miles in 37:55 ish. Yay me!

Juneathon Day 5
I think I might have a Juneathon record here. 5 days in a row. hehehe
Today was an easy 15 minute walk. I'm not feeling that great again/still. This plague thing is really starting to get on my nerves. It's been 12 days. I'm over it. All I can say is that I better be up for the race on Saturday. My first 10k since 1988 and my very first trail 10k. It's part 2 of the Serious Series. And I'm gonna get that pint glass, dammit. heh

Juneathon Day 4
Headed to the gym for some cross-training fun. I lifted for about 35 minutes. Then I felt like puking. Which reminded me exactly why I hate lifting. All that counting and the pukey feeling. Yay! Running doesn't do that for me, well sometimes the pukey feeling surfaces. But you don't have to count to run. You just have to put one foot in front of the other. I guess I need to lift. I liked how my body changed when I was doing all that bootcamp stuff. Plus, I can always use the core work. I have absolutely no core strength. I was thinking that I could lift on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Seems like a big commitment. heh We shall see...

Juneathon Day 3
Hooah! I'm on a roll. For the most boring blog posts evah.
Today I RAN! For the first time since I was struck by the plague (I think the last time I ran was the Wyandotte thing on 5/20/11). I got out there. Inhaled some fresh air, moved my legs, and even threw in a little speedwork. My first speedwork in like 24 years. Yay! So here's the scoop:
2 miles, 29:44
I did a warm up walk for 2 minutes and then ran the rest of the loop (a smidge under 1/2 mile) at crazy fast (for me) speed. Like 10:30 to 11:00 pace. Then I walked 1/4 mile. Then I ran 1/4 mile at around 9:45 pace. Walked another 1/4 mile then ran 1/4 mile at 9:45 again. Walked the rest of the way until I reached the two mile mark and called it quits. It felt AWESOME. I'm still not relaxed because I'm constantly worried about my foot. Constantly. I just wish I knew what caused the whole mess so I knew what to do to avoid it or prevent it. Drives me crazy. I'm not a huge fan of treating symptoms without finding out the cause. I need to find a good sports med doc, me thinks.
Not sure what I'm going to do for Juneathon. I shouldn't run every day - in fact, I'd be happy with 3 times per week. But I need to find some other stuff to do on non-run days. I really only like to run. Classes are ok, but I'm not always motivated to get to the gym. Maybe I'll see if they have anything going this summer. I do need to work on the old arms. 20 year reunion coming up in August. I want to rock some short sleeves.
So, this is pretty boring, so I'm calling it quits on this post. Happy Weekend and run like the wind if you're racing this weekend!
